The Dodecanese is a Greek island group in the southeastern Aegean Sea, famous for its medieval Crusader castles built by the Knights of St. John and its sun-drenched beaches. Summers are hot and dry, averaging 86°F (30°C), which is perfect for windsurfing off the coast of Kos or exploring the massive Palace of the Grand Master in Rhodes Town. In mild winters around 60°F (15°C), you can hike the ancient stone paths of Patmos without crowds and visit the Cave of the Apocalypse, where St. John is said to have written the Book of Revelation.
